Each year I think I won’t make many, but looking back, I sure did.
I did a lot of reading this year, consumed a lot of content and, to be honest, most of it fell into the category of productivity, learning, focus and business.
Here are the changes I made based upon what truly made a connection with me.
- Calendar/time batching: I do almost all of my weekly jobs on a Thursday now and my monthly jobs on the 2nd Thursday of the month. The number of days that I have “free” for non-trivial tasks. Just do it unless you like the busy work.
- Email automation: I implemented lots of automatic filtering in Gmail this year. I don’t need to get emails from Amazon every darn day about my orders but I do want them just in case. I basically know they are coming and through them automatically being marked as read and moved to a folder, I can still access them if I need to check. This is amongst many other annoying emails. Get out of my inbox and into my storage!
- Linked databases in Notion: Very nice little feature. One master database. Create a linked database to this database. Then filter and sort each database as needed including hiding or showing various properties and having different views. Reading books in the top database. Completed in the linked database.
