There are a lot of recommendations we all get from across the internet and in person. Many of them are recommended for good reasons, some for nefarious reasons.
(1) Amplenote — The amazing todo, calendar and general organizational tool that I just don’t get. I have tried, even using another account to get reset, but for me, I spent more time nursing the product than getting things done. This is a bad sign. I do love the idea of the scoring system and the way Amplenote can help you to prioritise things, but I currently feel like I am having to work harder than I should to use the tool as intended.
I do like the consolidation of multiple tools into one in much the same way TickTick does, but for me this is overcomplicating things. However, I can see that for some, it would be their dream app. I just can’t see myself forcing myself to use it for too long just to see if it will really click with me.
For the time being, I will leave Amplenote alone. Maybe I will see you in 2023. Maybe not.

Use instead — TickTick

(2) Todoist — The king of to do apps and one that I simply can not get on board with. Not all that long ago, I really tried to give Todoist a good go and after around 2 hours (yes, 2 hours) of adding everything I had stored and noted in TickTick and Things 3 (I often keep both up to date), there was a synchronisation problem. I had been working on my MacBook as that was so much quicker to use, and when I went back to my phone it just wasn’t syncing. I contacted Todoist’s support, who couldn’t help or point to a cause for the problem, and after uninstalling the app on Mac, it reverted back to the older version. There were no internet issues or anything similar, so this was a frustrating mystery.
But beyond that, Todoist just lacks the feel of Things 3 and the features of TickTick. I have never felt at home there, and yet…
