7 Alternatives to Each Major App We Almost All Use (That Are Much Better)

There are some apps that everyone uses. Some for good reasons but others for seemingly unknown reasons except the age-old herd mentality. So here are alternatives to the “big boys” in the industry that I absolutely think are better.

(1) Spotify to Deezer — Yes, everyone uses Spotify, it seems, but I wonder how much of that, like social media, is down to community and, because everyone is there, that’s the place to be. Spotify does community playlists like nothing else, but the sound quality, once you have heard the difference, is simply not good enough. In comes the barely known Deezer. It’s older than Spotify and better for it. I have also tried Tidal, Qobuz, Apple Music et al, but Deezer is the one that I wish more people tried, but it is also the kind of secret you want to keep to yourself.

(2) Netflix or Prime to YouTube — This is not a joke. There is a phenomenal amount of content on YouTube, and it is free, with ads, of course. When people have become more and more jaded by the increasing prices of these subscriptions and seemingly stale content depending on who you ask, YouTube is always there.

(3) Facebook and Instagram to BeReal — Yes, I absolutely think that Facebook causes a great deal of harm, much more so than the joy it brings. Instagram has its own issues but is relatively limited in what it can do. So instead, try BeReal. This is a social media app that wants to cut out all of the filters, fakery, and misinformation that you find elsewhere. Social media should not be a…
