Member-only story
I never start the day without my template.
Each morning, I get prompts from two apps in particular.
These give me structure and direction and stop me from looking for something to do instead of actually getting on with things.
So there is the question of why I need two apps.
But how I have them set up and how they support me is more important.
How does my daily template look and what do I use?
I will try to help you today, as I try to do in all my writing.
1. Capacities and Things 3
I use both these apps though in different ways.
Capacities provides me with a literal, daily template to fill in.

Things 3 has a variety of reminders that appear at the appropriate time and day.
Below, I will outline the differences.
2. Daily note and templates in Capacities
In Capacities, you have both Daily Notes, built into the calendar feature, and templates.
It is the combination of these things that is so powerful for me.
I have refined my daily template in Capacities a few times, but I am most happy with it now.
I have a few templates in Capacities now, and you can even add multiple templates to a single daily note.
